Women Empowerment: Misuse of Laws in Modern Society |
Section 498 A of the Indian Penal Code was passed to protect women against marital cruelty and dowry harassment. This allows the arrest of husband and his relatives solely on the basis of allegations by the wife, without any evidence and investigation. Section 498 A being non-bailable, allows punishing the accused by imprisonment even before the guilt is established. But unfortunately sometimes it is being misused by the women to settle scores with her in-laws and husband. Innocent families have been imprisoned only on the basis of wife's allegations. Several authorities have noted that almost 98% cases filled under the section 498 A are based on false accusations.
The sexual harassment of women at workplaces (prevention, prohibition and redressal) act 2013 is a legislative act in India that seeks to protect women from sexual harassment at their places of work. This law is created to provide a better environment for women where in they feel safe in their workplace and can get a quite so justice if there is violation of this law on any ground. But now a days a few women are willfully taking dishonest opportunities behind this law to accomplish some personal interests. These kind of women carry false allegations by fabricating men as criminal. Sometimes, they lure men into trap to achieve their hidden purpose. There are several cases where attractive women lure men to commit explicit acts in a bid to blackmail them.
Report reveals that more than 40% of domestic violence victims are men. But, the most important thing is that men assaulted by partners are often ignored by police.
Last but not least, it is also important to note that women empowerment can not be denied in the society. Women empowerment helps to make the society and world a better place to live in and march forward on way to inclusive participation....
